Abstract:

Introduction: This study aimed, effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on soft tissue healing after mandibular third molar surgery. Materials & Methods: In this semi-blinded clinical trial study, 30 selected patients requiring surgical extraction of soft tissue impacted mandibular third molar participated from cases referred to the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Isfahan Azad University 2017. Patients divided into both test and control groups. PRP was placed in the extracted socket of the test group, whereas the control group had no PRP. Arzhangian standard kit utilized for preparation of PRP. The outcome variables in this study were pain, swelling, inter incisal mouth opening, wound dehiscence, dry socket, bleeding, and tissue color. The collected data analyzed using statistical tests followed independent T-test, Mann-Whitney, and fisher (p value < 0. 05). Results: The mean postoperative pain score (Visual Analog Scale) lowered for the test group after several wound dehiscence on the third and seventh days after surgery which was statistically significant (p value < 0. 001). Although the mean bleeding time on the third day after surgery decreased in the test group, this difference was not statistically significant (p value = 0. 59). There were no statistically significant between both groups for The dry socket incidence on the seventh day and the mean of inter incisal mouth opening in the third and seventh days after surgery as well. Conclusion: The usage of topical PRP has beneficial advantages on soft tissue healing after mandibular third molar surgery. Unlike the control group, The PRP group provided reduced pain and better soft tissue healing.

Abstract:

Introduction: Plasma cell gingivitis is gingivitis  which includes these clinical features: red and loosely gingival enlargement, sometimes is granular that with easy bleeding and usually dose not cause attachment loss. In the histologic feature of this lesion there are closed plasma cells in under connective tissue that have extended to the oral epithelium. Causal factors include: allergic factors such as chewing gums, toothpaste, autoimmune reaction, hormonal imbalance and hematologic infiltration. Howeres sometimes there is no clear cause. The aim of this study was case report of plasma cell gingivitis and the way to treat this lesion. Result: The case was a 14 year-old girl  whose chief complain was gingival bleeding. In an intra oral examination there was diffused  red gingival enlargement in the anterior and right sextants of the jaw. In an extra oral examination there was no significant finding. Hematologic laboratory test was normal. In a radiographic feature, marginal bone loss was not detected and in a histopatologic feature there were acanthotic epithelium with closely infiltration of inflammatory cell with dominant plasma cell in under lamina properia. Surgery was performed by flap method in order to eliminate gingival enlargement and then the patient fallowed during the maintenance phase. Discussion: In this case there was not any recurrence of the disease during the 6 month fallow up and any special allergic cause related to this patient was not detected. However, this patient was in pubertal age, and there may be a corelation to hormonal imbalance and this is one suggested causal factors.

Abstract:

Histopathological revision of lymph nodes revealed lymph node structure with mild architectural alternation and obliteration of some of the subcapsular sinusoids due to extensive increase of lymphoid follicles both in cortical and medullary areas. In addition to above morphologic findings, the interfollicular areas were loaded with sheets of plasma cells. On immunohistochemistry staining, CD20 highlighted the localization of B cells in germinal centers. The CD31 also highlighted the rich vascularization of the lymph node. On serial sections, there was no evidence of any CD30 positive atypical lymphocytes….

Abstract:

Cultivated media for the growth of human blood cells are many, but the use of natural and less expensive materials is the most important to obtain the suitable growth for the cultivation of human lymphocytes. It needs a lot of materials that help in its development. Here, plasma is a very important growth factor for the growth of cells, which through its growth is useful in studying many natural and abnormal processes and interactions that occur in cells or studying the effect of many chemicals on cells through the examination of cell division so that it does not affect the nature of their chromosomes, and the results showed that the best concentration of chromosomes. Human plasma suitable for the growth of human blood cells is 20% and 10% plasma concentration which gave the highest cell division rate that could be obtained. There are no significant differences between plasma concerning the cell division index. As for the study of the chromosomal body, this indicator is important and is widely used in cytogenetic studies.

Abstract:

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn) belonging to the Asteraceae family and known for its valuable secondary metabolite, silymarin. In order to get the cell suspension culture of Silybum marianum, the combination of 2,4-D and BAP hormones each with five different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 2 and 5 mg/L) and 3 different seedling explants (cotyledon, hypocotyl and root) was used to callus formation. High-quality callus was observed in eight different of hormone-explant combinations. Successful cell suspension culture was achieved only by using callus created from cotyledon explants treated with 0.1 mg/L 2,4-D and 5 mg/L BAP. Furthermore, the study examined the effects of 2% and 4% Serendipita indica cell wall extract as an elicitor on silymarin production in cell suspension culture at three different inoculation times (24, 48, and 72 h). After 48 h of inoculation with 2% fungal extract, the highest level of silymarin (199 ppm) was observed, which was significantly different from the control (46 ppm). The silymarin content of cells increased over time through elicitation with 4% fungal elicitor, while no similar pattern was observed with 2% fungal extract. Based on the results, the cell wall of S. indica can significantly enhance the amount of SLM in the cell suspension culture of S. marianum.

Abstract:

Zinc has an important role in skin health and its deficiency reduces immunity to evaluate levels of zinc in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of skin, we studied 44 BCC and 38 SCC cases together with 33 controls. Blood samples were taken and after separation of serum, levels of zinc, albumin and total protein were measured by atomic absorption albumin kit and reflectometer consecutively. Serum globulin levels were estimated by subtracting albumin from total protein levels. Zinc levels were significantly lower in cancer cases than control (P<0.001). Mean serum albumin of BCC cases was significantly more than controls (P<0.01), but in BCC cases was not significantly different. Significant correlations were seen between levels of serum zinc and albumin of SCC (r=0.507, P<0.01) and BCC(r=0.43, P<0.01) patients and controls(r=0.35,P<0.01). Mean globulin levels in cancer cases were significantly lower than control group (P<0.01).We concluded that serum zinc and globulin levels decrease in BCC and SCC of skin.
